About Us
Hello, Thank you for your interest.
My name is Rex Bentley and I have been importing and selling MiCADDY electric golf buggies that are made to my specifications to suit Australian golf courses for several years.
MiCADDY is a registered trade mark (™).
Let me tell you a little about myself and MiCADDY to help you understand that while MiCADDY electric golf buggies may look similar they are not just another cheap Chinese electric buggy available online where often the quality, performance, reliability, warranty and after sales service may leave a lot to be desired.
I have hacked my way around golf course's for over 50 years and am a member at Hartfield Country Club www.hartfieldgolf.com.au where I play several times a week. I can not claim to be a gun golfer but I do understand what golfers look for when spending money on golf equipment. While price is an issue the product should still perform well.
To ensure that the buggy you buy will give you a long life it is essential that after sales service will always be available no matter what price you pay for it. I receive several calls a month from golfers who have bought a cheap buggy, online or used, and are unable to get it fixed when they have a problem with it. In most cases I can not help them as MiCADDY buggies do not have the same components that they require.
I believe that the following quote sums up the "price/performance" issue. "If you buy something too cheap make certain that you save for repairs".
After buying several electric buggies on Ebay about 6 years ago and being totally dissatisfied with the performance, warranty conditions and lack of after sales service I decided to investigate the possibility of sourcing a better product. A buggy backed by a genuine warranty and after sales service that could sell at about half the price of the traditional electric buggies. Many of which are also supplied either in full or in part from China.
As I had retired time was not an issue. Then began a rather frustrating journey which has included a substantial amount of money, a lot of R&D on my part and several trips to China to work with a reputable supplier who was prepared to listen to my request for improvements to be made to their buggies.
Initially I had major problems such as many batteries failing after about 3 months, poor quality controllers and so on. This has made the task more difficult to establish a good reputation for MiCADDY despite the fact that I have given excellent after sales service to rectify or replace any faulty product.
I can now deliver a very good product at an affordable price with features that are unique to electric golf buggies in the lower price range. Features such as a castor wheel for ease of steering and an extendable frame to enable the length of the frame to be adjusted to suit the different size golf bags.
Unlike some electric golf buggies sold online MiCADDY electric buggies and battery chargers carry the C-Tick sticker which is required to enable them to be sold legally in Australia.
At $497 MiCADDY is about half the price of the lower cost traditional electric buggies. I personally check every unit before it is delivered and also provide the warranty and after sales service so the buck stops with me if there is a problem. If you are looking for a very good remote controlled buggy ask me about the MiCaddy versatile (VFR) unit at only $795 which is still a little less than you would expect to pay for a traditional basic electric buggy.
IMPORTANT, Please ensure that you register your purchase as, in the event of a claim, evidence of the date of purchase will be required.
A word of advice
Before buying any electric golf buggy, new or used, make certain that parts and after sales service will be available if required in the future.
Thinking of buying a used electric buggy?
The most common problem with electric buggies is battery failure. While a battery can be recharged to 13V + it is no guarantee that it has the capacity to complete 18 holes. I suggest that if you are buying a used buggy ask the vendor if you can have the battery load tested before buying. This test should only cost you a few dollars and, as there is no warranty, could save you having to spend in excess of $100 on a replacement battery which would then make the used buggy rather expensive. I test all batteries prior to sale.
Battery Care
The following is an extract taken from the internet.
"Recharge a deep cycle battery every day it is used and as soon as possible after each use. When not in use, maintaining the battery's State-of-Charge at 100% by continuous float charging is best way to prevent permanent lead sulfation. If continuous float charging is not possible, recharge before the State-of-Charge drops below 80%. Permanent sulfation kills approximately 85% of all deep cycle batteries. "
